About Enjoy Tea Room
I am Susan Kelly, the owner of ENJOY!!!
I have been renting space in this historic building on Main Street for twelve years. I found a small triangular space in the rear which I could afford and moved my Family Therapy practice from nearby Briarcliff Manor to Ossining.
My practice grew and I moved to a store front office which presently serves as our Tea Room. Along the way, while very happily and busily occupied with my practice with individuals, couples and families, more space, another store front space became available on the west side of my therapy office. That space is on the corner and if you sit in the right spot across from the front door, you can experience the wonder of sunsets over the mighty Hudson River. I could not resist and I took that space as well. Perhaps a place for group work, I thought. Instead, I decided to try something different and I began ENJOY!!! A Village Gift Shop. I remodeled a bit, went to the New York Gift Show, spent a lot of money at Staples and, with the help of family and friends, started a new venture working my hours around my therapy pracice.
The gift shop was fun but not quite busy enough to suit my energy level and I began to think about the possibility of combining the two spaces. The often stated wish of my father came to mind - that his six daughters start a diner or a luncheonette. It was a little late for that but maybe this daughter could start a tea room.
With the agreement of the landlord I broke through the old brick wall and connected the two spaces -- ENJOY!!! Tea Room and Gift Shop!
From the start, it was quite clear that the Tea Room was wanted and appreciated. "There's never been anything like this before"..."What a charming addition"..."The loveliest spot in Ossining...The prettiest, best Tea Room around"...and on and on such compliments continue to validate our presence here.
Our challenge now is to provide a service which will be appropriate for much of the Ossining Village population which does not yet relate to the elegance and formality of the tea room. Happily, these same people have discovered our delicious ice cream which we serve in our tea room area and slowly, they are becoming acquainted with ENJOY!!! as the friendly unimposing place that it is.
We are transforming our gift shop into a full fledged ice cream parlor to further welcome the people of the Village. In the opinion of this business woman, there is no point in having a delightful venture in the heart of Ossining if it does not serve the people who live there. Watch for the opening of the ice cream parlor, which will offer gifts as well!!!
